MetroArtParks- Supporting Visual Artists
Are you able to name a 21st century painter or artist? If you can, you are of a rare breed.
David Ballinger, the designer of MetroShed, is astounded that most people would not have an answer to that question. Ballinger is hoping to change that mentality by building ArtParks across the globe, helping to develop and build artist’s careers.
MetroSheds are used for many things but, more and more, customers are using their MetroSheds as art studios. This gave Ballinger an idea. Ballinger, an avid art collector and supporter, has since developed an online gallery of contemporary artwork, but wanted to give back and support the arts in another way.
Ballinger is hoping to create "ArtParks" around the globe and is willing to donate and support artists and art councils. Ballinger will give studio space, in the form of the MetroShed, to deserving and promising artists (in particular, the visual arts). By ArtPark, Ballinger means "a series of stand alone artist’s studios that can be rented to artists" at a very nominal amount. The ArtParks would also be "a place where artists can showcase their work during specific open days and a place where artists can learn new art techniques by visiting professionals in their studios."
Get involved and help the arts. Have a hand in making art accessible to all.
